Chalk Bacchus
Elderflower · gooseberry · sea spray

Certified organic, biodynamic in practice and quietly devoted to the bees, skylarks and chalk streams that share our slopes.
Ninety million years ago the land beneath our feet was the floor of a warm shallow sea. The shells of countless small creatures fell, layer upon layer, and became the chalk that now holds our vineyard and our wildflower meadows.
Our farming gives back. We tend twenty-seven acres of vines and seventy acres of meadow, ancient woodland and hedgerow. No synthetic inputs. Sheep graze the rows in winter. The bees do the rest.

"We do not own this land. We are stewards of it for a while, and we leave it kinder than we found it."
Native yeast. Low sulphur. Minimal intervention. We bottle what the vines give us, each year a little differently.

"Biodynamic farming is not a technique.
It is a way of paying close attention
to a place, for a very long time."
The vineyard is one part of an ecosystem. Counting our neighbours is one of the most rewarding parts of the year.
